NY Giants Show They are Ready to Defend

The NY Giants defeated the Washington Redskins by a score of 16 to 7 in the first game of the regular season. The defense that led the Giants to the Super Bowl Title started off strong again this year limiting the Redskins to 11 first downs, 209 total yards and more importantly 7 points. Eli Manning led the offense to an opening first drive of 84 yards and a touchdown which he ran in from the one. Manning's stats on the night were 19 of 35 passing for 216 yards and an interception. Plaxico Burress cought 10 of Manning's passes for 133 yards. Brandon Jacobs led the rushing attack with 21 carries for 116 yards. Giants kicker John Carney led the Giants in scoring with field goals from 24, 25, and 47 yards.
